Right in uptown Austin is a quaint town home complex, perfect for people who are looking for lower maintenance properties. This was a remodel for the ages as these homeowners needed a space that worked with their age and health needs including a wheelchair conducive space for easy access and functionality. From years of collecting antique furniture and accessories this remodel combined old with new.
We started off by keeping the existing kitchen layout and replacing all the cabinets, giving the homeowners functional drawers and shelving that worked better with their storage needs. We lightened up the space with a cabinet finish called Aspen and installed a beautiful glass backsplash with a subway tile shape that helps elongate the space. Contrasting dark wood floors throughout the house help to blend the new lighter installations with the vintage, antique accessories and rugs.
In the master bath we created a nice and open space. Using matte white solid surface panels and a beautiful accent tile strip gives the bathroom a clean and open feel. The open concept assisted in providing ways that allow wheelchair access as well as work for people of all ages.
